The Rebuild
see this post? see how its blank? its been 15 minutes and I can't get a freakin photo to upload! Lame!
its been awhile...a shocking long while...It amazes me how fast the days turn into weeks, the weeks in to months and so on...
I feel like it was just yesterday that I was basking in the warm Carolina sunshine as my last post suggest. But its not...its been 3 very long months. I'd love to say that I've been extremely busy living life to the fullest but honestly the only thing I've done since September is drink a lot of beer and gain 10 pounds. As they say "Tis the Season"
I have also taken a few million photos but getting them to up load in a timely fashion seems to be damn near impossible. Blog spot could learn a thing or two from facebook when it comes to speedy uploads. I hate the waiting game just as much as everybody else but have to remind myself that if I'm going to keep an online journal of my life that patience is a virtue that can be extremely handy if I ever manage to conquer it. Having myself a cocktail also helps :-)

Mann Hole

Labor Day weekend at Trinity lake started off in full swing and ended with one emergency room visit and a broken boat. We ended up spending Sunday hanging out at Mann Hole and breaking down camp early Monday morning. Not exactly the way I wanted to spend the weekend but I'm thankful that Dana's injury wasn't more serious and that the boat decided to die on the very last weekend instead of the first one.
Weekend Trip

Summer is officially over, at least here in Humboldt County it is. The rest of the state is still basking in glorious sunshine. For some reason I have the mind set that once Labor Day has arrived I need to bust out my winter clothes. This year I refuse to do that. I'm determined to drive the 45 minutes to warmer weather and that's exactly what I did this past weekend. A little trip with my best friend to visit Whiskeytown falls, Crystal Falls, Shasta Caverns, and Lewiston Lake. Although it was a quick trip it was just what I needed to keep myself from being fog depressed.

Little Boulder and Boulder Lake
Brian and I spent Saturday hiking into Little Boulder and Boulder Lakes - It was an easy one day hike that we tried to make harder by finding Taipe Lake - No such luck - Reading the guide book we knew that this was an easy in and out hike and to expect company - what it didn't tell us is that we had wondered into MOSQUITO HELL - after setting up camp in a beautiful meadow we proceeded to be eaten alive - hiding in the tent was our only escape - after taking a well deserved nap we packed up camp and headed to the other side - lucky for us it wasn't as bad but we both came home covered in bites - hello west nile virus -

Stoddard Lake - Trinity Alps - California
Hunter and Logan fishing
Stoddar Meadow
Hiking in my $100 buckle jeans - Last year it was a jean skirt - this year expensive jeans - I like to roll in style
Another Gleanton/Minton/Young hiking trip in the Trinity Alps - This one about killed all of us. Taking roughly 6 hours to cover the 3.5 miles of rough terrain. There is actually two different ways to reach Stoddard Lake. For some reason the boys decided that taking the hard way was going to be best for this fat family. Never again do I let them have complete control over the map. This girl learned her lesson when she saws two college ages kids and their elderly parents pack in their lawn chairs from the easy access point.
I'd have to say out of our last three trips this one was my least favorite lake. Although beautiful in its own right I don't think it holds a candle to Tangle Blue or the Russian Wilderness. Plus the weather wasn't great which makes it a little harder to enjoy being outdoors.

Sky Crest Lake
Ever been to a wedding with a bunch of strangers? yeah well me neither until this past weekend. Part of the stipulation for me to go white water rafting was I had to get my swerve on at a strangers wedding. I was a little nervous about going since I didn't knowing anyone but honestly with enough beer and vodka in me I can have fun anywhere
White Water Rafting
I can't help but laugh every time I look at these photos - I should have known when our 19 to 24 year old river guide Ben was super excited to be taking us on a smaller boat that Carly and I would be drinking a lot of river water. I say 19 to 24 years old because he refused to tell us until the end of the trip and we were both too exhausted to remember to ask him. Cute kid, weighing in at maybe a hundred and forty pounds but I love the fact that he was able to haul my fat ass back into the boat each time I fell out. That was a big concern of ours and I think he was slightly insulted when we doubted his abilities to pluck these damsels in distress out of the water.
I've been meaning to do this white water rafting trip each summer but knowing that Brian wasn't a big fan of the river I didn't push the issue but spending those three hours on the river reminds me of how much I've missed it. Thanks Carly for inviting me!
