The 101
The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (i.e. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching.
Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year's resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
My new blogs name is My 101 minus a few(I haven’t hit 101 yet). If you like to follow please send me your email address and I’ll put you on the list.

Snow
Every since I was a little girl I was always the first one back in the truck. While all the other kids built snowmen and laughed their heads off sleighing down the mountain I sat in the truck and cried over cold fingers. I also have an unnatural fear of our vehicle falling down an embankment forever hidden from view of passer byers. Snow or no snow I think about it all the time. I hate the snow!!!! And having said that I’ll tell you about my weekend filled with it
Every year I pray that god will have mercy on me so that I don’t have to trek my ass up the mountain. We’ve had a relatively dry winter with temperatures reaching the mid to upper 60’s for most of January so I thought for sure this year I was off the hook. Brian must pray harder then I do because at this very moment the hills are live with snow flakes. During the week I discussed the possibility of going to the snow with my IM buddy Carly. She and her boyfriend Derek were all for freezing their asses off. If I’m going to the snow I’d rather go in a group, less chance of driving off a cliff and nobody seeing you :)
Early Valentines morning and no phone call from our friends Brian decides we’re not going to miss the chance to go so off we went. Mind you I packed our truck full of survival gear; cookies, chips, soda, blankets, two pairs of shoes, a change of pants, the cell phone, aspirin, and a shovel. We grabbed coffee at starbucks and after a little whining we headed out towards Korbel and up to Snow Camp. I spend the majority of our trip hyperventilating and nauseous but the view was spectacular. God must have been looking out for me a little because half way up snow camp we ran into the snow plow. He was done for the day and we had to turn around. Wooohooo!!!
As I said before Brian must pray harder then I do because bright and early Sunday morning Carly calls and invites us to go. I’m thinking in my head “NO, NO, NO, I already went to the snow this year.” I must admit I was in a panic the entire trip up the hill and didn’t even begin to relax until we hit flat ground again. Ninety mile an hour winds kept us from having to much fun but I did get a couple of good photos out of it. The good news is that I can stop worring about the snow for the next 10 months.

Everyday
I’ll wake up to Brian’s alarm clock going off at Exactly 6:30 and then again at 6:37, 6:44, 6:51, I’ll lay there fuming until he finally gets up at 6:59. I’ll curl back down under the covers and wait until he blinds me with the light before I get up. It will take 3 minutes of scalding hot water before I even attempt to start my daily ritual of shampooing, conditioning, scrubbing, and brushing my teeth. Like most women I spend entirely too much time picking out what I’m going to wear that day knowing that no matter what I put on I’ll still feel fat, unattractive and totally disgusted with my outfit.
I never let my car warm up (sorry, honey). I just jump in and race off to the local coffee shop. They know me there which means I can grunt and throw around hand motions and they’ll know what I want.
Then it’s off to the happiest place on earth – my job. Sometimes I really wish I worked at Disneyland at least that way it wouldn’t be a lie if I said I truly did work at the happiest place on earth. If you can’t tell already let me just say that I’m tired of my job and wonder why I’ve stuck around for so long. Eleven years is a long time to get acquainted with the ins and outs of the sanitation business. The excitement is gone – okay your right there never was any excitement but at least let me pretend that something has compelled me to stick around garbage and shit for the majority of my young adult life. My mother would call it laziness. She might have a point. I’m I too lazy to go out and look for something new? Or maybe it’s because I’m afraid to learn that flip flops aren’t except everywhere. Or maybe it’s because I’m afraid to go out and buy new dress clothes that will still make me feel fat, unattractive, and blah.
Once at work, I spend the first 45 minutes catching up on celebrity gossip with perezhilton.com. and people magazine. I’ll check my email, read the local paper, MySpace random people, stare out the window; the excitement of my day might come if I decide to use the heater and the microwave at the same time. Then POOF no more power! The rest of my day proceeds almost exactly to what I have stated above. The phone might ring at some point, a baby might visit, and occasionally I have to play therapist for the girl next door. At exactly 4 o’clock I abandon the place by jumping into my car and peeling out to enjoy the next 15 hours of freedom.
Once home I can’t decide if I should scream, laugh or cry at the dog for tracking muddy feet into my dinning room. I spend the next hour sweeping and mopping. My man gets home and we stare at each other – I’m secretly praying that he’s decided to cook dinner tonight. I’d love to know what he’s thinking but sometimes I’m not sure if he’s thinking anything at all. He wins; I cook. At 6:30 we watch jeopardy and I realize that he must be thinking something because he’s really good at jeopardy. If the category is anything besides historical events or celebrity marriages I’m screwed. After Alex makes all the normal people feel like idiots we flip channels. I fall asleep anywhere between 9:30 and 10 p.m. to the sweet sound of drag car racing.
At Exaclty 6:30 a.m. the alarms goes off
Trent Reznor got it right when he penned Every Day is Exactly the Same for Nine in Nails.
***up date***
my good friend just reminded me that I spend the majority of my day IMing her. duh! how could I forget!?! that takes up at least 3 hours of my day.

A sunny day in February
The weather has been unbelievable warm and clear for winter. We haven't had much rain which I'm thankful for now but know I'll be sad when summer arrives and our lakes and rivers look like mudd puddles. Neither Brian or I are really into football so this Super Bowl Sunday we decided to drive up to Orick and do some hiking. Over the summer we tried to hike Lady Bird Johnson grove just outside of Orick but once we got there we found out you can't take dogs on the trail (stupid!) and had to turn around. Being that we just got Tucker fixed this week, we decided to leave him home and do some exploring on our own. We took two different trails, one being a mile and the other one eight miles (no we didn't walk the whole eight miles - I like to hike - just not that much :) both of them remined me why I love living in Humboldt.
