Adios! fb!

It took pretty much everything I had to hit the cancel button and almost instantly I regretted it. I caught myself clicking on the link twice over the course of my unfinished work day. I feel a little lost and disconnected. My stalking skills slipping away from me in an instant. Another part of me is glade to have it over and done with. Its almost refreshing not to be caught up in the drama. Ha - I just caught myself typing trauma instead of drama and honestly trauma might be a better fitting word. Its almost like a train wreck that you can't tear yourself away from, a weird addiction of gossip, stalking, and premeditated planning.

It wasn't that long ago that I ran into a friend of mine while out at dinner. She was unaware of my presence even though I was standing less then 3 feet from her. So engrossed in her cell phone that she was missing the world as it walked by her. I don't want to be (as my friend carly would say) "that girl". I don't need texting or facebook. Twitter or myspace. I think the technological advance of our society are amazing. We've come so far in the last 100 years but some days I'm not sure that its all for the better. Not once in the past year have I been able to smile over a memory I created on some social networking site. Yet my screen saver consist of one beautiful weekend spent hiking in the Russian Wilderness. That picture holds my happiest 2010 memory. I think spending a little less time on facebook and a lot more time out enjoying our planet will be good for my soul.

But I miss you on FB! Really though, I totally agree with you. However, it is fun to have a little mindless distraction when you're stuck at home and don't have the choice to leave :)
